Spend Friendly
Privacy Policy
The short version: your budget lives on your phone. We do not have servers, we do not have accounts, and we cannot see your financial information.
1. Information we do not collect
Spend Friendly has no sign up and no login. We do not collect, receive, store or have access to:
- Your income, bills, spending, savings or any other budget data
- Your name, email address or contact details
- Your bank or financial account information (the app never connects to banks)
- Your precise location
- Your contacts, photos or files
2. Information stored only on your device
Everything you enter in the app (income, bills, spending entries, savings, categories, settings, and your optional PIN) is stored locally on your iPhone in Apple's secure storage (Keychain). Your PIN is stored as a salted cryptographic hash, not as the PIN itself. This data is never transmitted to us. If you delete the app, iOS removes this data in line with Apple's Keychain behaviour.
If you enable Face ID or Touch ID unlock, biometric matching is performed entirely by iOS on your device. The app never sees, stores or has access to your biometric data; it only receives a yes or no answer from the system.
3. Third party services
The app uses two third party services, each with a limited role.
The free version of Spend Friendly shows a banner advertisement served by Google AdMob. Ads in Spend Friendly are non-personalised; we do not request cross-app tracking permission because we do not track you. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as your IP address, general (coarse) location inferred from it, and ad interaction data. This is handled by Google under its own privacy policy:
Subscribers to Spend Friendly Plus see no ads, and no ad requests are made for them.
Spend Friendly Plus is an optional subscription processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives purchase receipt information from Apple (such as transaction identifiers, product, purchase date and subscription status) together with an anonymous app generated identifier. It does not receive your name, email, payment details or budget data. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
Your payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment method.
4. Analytics
The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs beyond the advertising and purchase services described above. We do not track your usage of the app.
5. Children
Spend Friendly is a general audience budgeting tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because your budget data exists only on your device, you are in control of it. Deleting your data can be done by deleting entries in the app or removing the app from your device. We hold no copy and therefore cannot access, restore or delete it for you. Data held by Google (advertising) or RevenueCat and Apple (purchases) is subject to their retention policies linked above.
7. Security
Budget data and your PIN are stored using Apple's Keychain backed secure storage. The optional app lock (PIN with Face ID or Touch ID) adds protection if someone else has your phone. No security measure is perfect, but the most important protection is structural: your data never leaves your device, so there is no server of ours to breach.
8. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, and where applicable laws such as the EU GDPR, you have rights over personal information an organisation holds about you, including access and correction. Since we hold no personal information about you, these rights are mainly exercisable against the third parties above through the links provided. If you have any privacy question or concern, contact us and we will do our best to help.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it at this address and revise the effective date. Material changes (for example, if a future version added optional cloud sync) will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
