JOURNALINES
Last updated 11 August 2026
Your journal never leaves your phone.
Journalines is published by Pixelane Field. This policy covers the Journalines app on iOS and Android.
Journalines has no accounts, no sign-up and no server of ours storing your writing. Entries live in a database on your device and are not uploaded, backed up by us, or readable by anyone but you.
Three things do go out: what you type to Polaris, advertising data if you use the free version, and your subscription status if you pay. Each is described below.
All of the following is stored locally and is never transmitted to us:
| What | Where it is kept |
|---|---|
| Your journal entries | A private database in the app's storage |
| Your name and date of birth | System-encrypted storage — the Keychain on iOS, Keystore-backed storage on Android |
| Your chart and daily numbers | Calculated on the device, not stored remotely |
| Notification time, streaks, settings | Local app preferences |
Deleting the app removes the journal database. On iOS, some values held in the Keychain can persist after deletion — standard system behaviour — and are cleared when the device is erased or reset.
When you send a message to Polaris, that message is sent over an encrypted connection to our service, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a reply.
Sent with your message: the single-digit numbers derived from your chart — Life Path, Birth Day, Birth Month, Personal Year, Personal Month and Personal Day.
Not sent: your name, your date of birth, or any journal entry. Only the reduced numbers travel, never the date they came from.
Conversations are held in memory for the length of a chat session so Polaris can follow the thread, and are not stored by us afterwards. Anthropic processes the request under its own terms; see the Anthropic Privacy Policy.
The free version shows banner advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. To serve them, Google may collect device and usage information such as a device advertising identifier, IP address, and interactions with the ads. This is Google's collection, governed by Google's privacy terms.
This includes the device advertising identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, the Identifier for Advertisers on iOS. It is used to select and measure advertising, and is not linked by us to you, your journal or your chart.
On iOS you are asked whether to allow tracking. On Android you can reset or delete the Advertising ID in system settings. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising is shown, and you may refuse. Where consent is refused or unavailable, only non-personalised advertising is served. Subscribing removes advertising entirely.
Purchases are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your purchase status — never your name, your journal, or your chart. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
The daily reading notification is scheduled on your device by the app itself. Nothing is sent to a server to deliver it, and no push token is collected. You can turn it off in Settings at any time.
Journalines is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Traffic between the app and any service it contacts uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and the app rejects invalid certificates. Your name and date of birth are held in storage encrypted by the operating system. Journal entries are stored in the app's private storage area, which other apps cannot read.
No system is perfectly secure, but because your writing is never uploaded, there is no server of ours holding it that could be breached.
There are no accounts. Journalines does not create one, so there is no profile of you held anywhere for us to delete.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app.
